Hamachi…Secure Mediated P2P

Tuesday, December 20th, 2005

After listening to Steve Gibson’s Security Now! podcasts for the last few months and their pursuit of the “holy grail” of secure remote computing they have finally made a suggestion that rocks! Hamachi is a secure mediated peer-to-peer networking component that allows a secure connection between a series of computers. With Hamachi you can organize two or more computers with an Internet connection into their own virtual network for direct secure communication.

Hamachi is secure. All Hamachi communications are encrypted and authenticated with industry-standard algorithms and protocols. Nobody will be able to see what two Hamachi peers are talking about. Not even us.

However what is equally important – Hamachi security architecture is completely open meaning that its detailed description is available for the review to anyone interested.

Cold weather …..Bah Humbug!

Thursday, December 15th, 2005

Not a fan of the cold weather. As a person attempting to stay in shape by running outdoors, I have a legit reason to not enjoy the frigid temperatures. We have had many days lately that do not get over 40 and threaten rain or snow. Makes it hard to get out the door. Maybe I am looking for excuses, maybe I am not. Cold is bad!
