Injuries suck!
Saturday, February 18th, 2006I have now been down a grand total of 4 days from a back injury. I did a little running, a little lifting, and little more of this and that on Wednesday that lead to a painful Thursday morning. I still have no idea what I did or what the catalyst was for the pain. It was a bit scary at first, but in great geek fashion I jumped online and found some information. I have “classic” symptoms of a Sciatic nerve injury. This is a nerve that runs down your back, hip, and legs. If pressure is put on the nerve it creates a good deal of pain, numbness, and a tingling sensation. Think about this; your butt hurts BAD, one of your legs is “asleep” for days, and a dull pain creeps up every now and then to remind you that you did something very wrong.
The amazing thing is that while this is a back injury, my back does not hurt at all. There are various methods to help with the pain. I have chosen the “Remain active, no lifting, medicate with Ibuprofen, and piss & moan”
