Google Toolbar BETA….all new!

Tuesday, March 28th, 2006

New Google toolbar beta has added some functions that seem to actually be usable. The first thing I noticed was integration with Gmail and the ability to add a Gmail icon to the bar. Next is the actual ’search’ area, that now makes suggestions as you type. I also like the weather button and spell checker. It sure will be nice to be able to provide the weather to end-users without them downloading the spy ware laden “weather bug” that seems to bring in unwanted junk. I will test a few more functions and see if I find any other goodies!

Get it here.

It is a BETA version so the link could change at any moment and of course install with caution as I am sure all the bugs have not been fully found.

Open source windows apps

Open source windows resource. I have used many of these and agree that they open source leaders. There are a few I have not yet experienced, but plan to check out soon. You can see them all

Enjoy!

Not planning on going all flashy

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

A few more experiments with flash have lead to a flash banner. Just trying out a few different variations using the same action script. This script was “borrowed” from a tutorial site. I, and many others, refer to it as “code lifting”, but I think it is an exceptional learning tool.

A great site I ran across today is Web Design From Scratch which has really good, sound advice. I like the design and the thoughts that went into the site. Great examples and tips.

Flash test…..

First time trying to integrate flash into the Nucleus site…let’s see

Edit: Yeah! Seems to work just fine in both IE and FF. Should try NS, Opera, etc., but just not right now.

Back injury….STILL!

Monday, March 13th, 2006

I continue to wake up thinking everything is going to be better, but I still have this back injury hanging on. If I take some Ibuprofen and “warm-up” in the morning then I can function just fine. This is getting to be a little annoying and definitely not good for my goals of the year. I suppose things happen for a reason and my body will get better with time. I did visit a local doctor and received confirmation that I have a back injury involving a mis-aligned lower back and herniated disk. Time will heal it. Keep active and wait it out was the advice.
