Tri-round up

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

Well, the triathlon happened and for the first time in any race type event I had an official DNF. I knew going in that my back was an issue (yes, still an issue!) and I was “pushing it.” I wanted so badly to just be involved, but my back was giving me more issues after moving some heavy items earlier in the week. My fault.

Here are the final results as I progressed:
Run – 23min 0sec (7min 40sec mile pace)
Bike – 38min 20sec (19.5 mph average)
Swim – jump in pool, Back goes up in flames, 1 lap, and then DNF

I tried to stay in the pool and even began lap 2 which was NOT happening.

Disappointed? Yes. Discouraged? No way. I will continue on and not push it next time.

Transition area

Thursday, May 4th, 2006

4th sport of the triathlon – The Transition Area. Could be the killer of all the disciplines.

Jay Benson Triathlon on May 14th. I am hoping for an under 1:16 finish. We’ll see how that goes. Predictions below:

(order of events changed due to field size and limited pool space – normally: Swim, Bike, & Run)
Sprint Distance Tri=
Run (3mi) – 24min
Bike (12mi) – 37min
Swim (400yds) – 15min
Total: 1 hr 16min

Hope that is not too lofty for this first!
